Exercise Walking
For total wellness, exercise walking is a very natural exercise that provides a whole host of benefits with a minimum of physical impact.
Exercise walking benefits include:
- weight control (to help offset the holiday feasts)
- control of blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels
- improved circulation
- a strengthened immune system
- a higher metabolism (so you burn more calories around the clock!)
In addition to benefiting the Body pillar of health, exercise walking also benefits the Mind and Family pillars! Psychologically, exercise walking provides relief from stress and anxiety, and (like any regular exercise) it boosts self-esteem. Exercise walking is also an activity that's easy to share with a significant other for a little quality time.
I use the term "exercise walking" instead of "speed/brisk walking" for good reason. I've put together this special web page for you that explains the difference and offers some practical advice to help you get the greatest benefit while also saving valuable time.
Keep Well,
Rob VH
P.S. As with any new exercise routine, check with your doctor first if you have any medical concerns.
