Sleep, Part II

The benefits of quality sleep (and how to get some!)
Benefits of quality sleep include:
- Reduced stress and an increased ability to cope with stress
- Increased energy and alertness throughout the day
- Wake feeling rested
- Improved mood
- Greater longevity
- A healthier heart
- Improved mental function and memory
- Increased resistance to medical problems
Tips for getting a good night's rest:
- Keep a regular bedtime
- Avoid caffeine in the evening and alcohol before bed
- Avoid exercising less than 3-4 hours before bedtime
- Set some time aside before bedtime to relax and unclutter your mind. Read a book.
- Invest in a proper mattress, comforter, and pillow
That last one is often overlooked yet our sleep environment is critical! Quality sleep requires both proper temperature and proper support as a bare minimum. Still, most people sleep on 70-year-old technology (springs and metal coils).
Every night, I sleep on the most advanced sleep system in the world -- a marriage of ancient wisdom and modern science. As a result, I wake feeling refreshed, alert, and far more limber than I did on a conventional mattress. I now sleep through the night, years of morning headaches are gone, and I rarely ever get sick. I would highly recommend it for anyone. In fact, my own experience played a large part in my decision to become a Wellness Consultant and share with others!
